Join us as we explore the world of nature art! Over the centuries, great artists in Canada and across the world have used their media to reflect the natural world as they see it, and to explore how it makes them feel… now it's your turn to do the same! We will explore the artistic worlds of nature artists such as the Canadian Group of Seven, Emily Carr, Van Gogh, Monet, and others. We will explore a variety of mediums; marker, pencil, paint, pastels, watercolor, to create small artworks. Color, composition, line, form, value and texture will be studied. We will take walks through fields, woods and gardens to gather our inspiration. Materials included.

Have you wondered how an artist created such an abstract and unique sculpture? We will discuss the works of the Masters and be inspired by their styles. Tuesday we learn yoga outdoors from Yoga Playgrounds teacher Jenn Carson Garnhum, while creating 3D art at Hooper Studios. Using partnerwork, games, and music we will move our bodies into living sculptures which we can photograph, draw and eventually make into real pieces we can take home to admire. In India, children have been taught yoga for hundreds of years to help harness their creativity, calm their minds, and discipline their bodies. Please see http://yogaplaygrounds.ning.com for more information. Then working with wood, wire, clay, and mixed media we will create imaginative sculptures. We will take walks through fields, woods and gardens to gather our inspiration. Students will wrap up the week painting their finished pieces. Materials included.
