Molly was a rescue dog, as all my dogs have been. My daughter Sue had seen her in her pen and told me about her and the next day I went in to check her out. She was sitting quietly, huge brown eyes looking up at me, a brown and white beagle mix, beautiful, and very pregnant! I decided she was the dog I wanted so the next day I went in and with some difficulty squeezed her into the car and took her home.
Two days later at 2 in the morning she had eight puppies in a bed I made for her under the stairs! She knew just what do to licking each one off and then gently getting them onto her HUGE belly to drink while the next one was born.
I had grown up on a farm and animals having babies was part of my life but for my grandchildren it was a first to be able to be part of the early life of those small wiggly creatures and after school they would arrive and play with them almost every day. As with most puppies they grew fast and soon were playing and loving to play with the kids. They were adorable and we soon had friends and family interested in taking some of them. At eight weeks we took the pups back and when I phoned the next day they told me that all of them had got homes.
Molly had a long and happy life. She was a wonderful friend to me and I miss her very much. Kathy.
